Happy thoughts, happy thoughts

Rafa lost last night to Delpo in two sets. Why am I posting this piece of serious news where no mockery can come out of it? I’m being positive.

No sane Rafa fan expected the boy to defend his title after being out for over two months. He won a (full) match and played a very competitive first set against one of the best players on hardcourts so far this season. Baby steps, eh? From his presser:

Q. The knees are fine?

RAFAEL NADAL: Yeah, the knees are very good, so that’s very good. Yeah, I must be very happy about this tournament, yeah.

And to reassure us “everything’s going to be okay”:

RAFAEL NADAL: No, I’m very happy and everything was very positive today.

With this loss and Mandy moving to the semifinals after defeating a brainless Tsonga, this gives us a slight change on the rankings. Rafa will move down to the number three position and the British will move up. As much as I like Mandy, I don’t like the fact now we can have a Federer-Nadal slam semifinal. Remember the last two finals with them? Epic. Well, the important thing is to everyone to be healthy, right? Right?? Take care, boys.

Three-stripes, US Open ’09

And the pictures of the Adidas US Open season collection have surfaced. The shock: I like them.

They’ve decided to stuck with the “locker room” look again. Relaxed (expect porn actor!Nando) players surrounded by sweaty towels and tennis balls — just the way the tennis gods intended. And even Dina looks quite lovely, doesn’t she? Delicate and strong at the same time.

Now, the outfits. Adidas wins a gold star for using pastel colours for this time of the season. Just as I love citric colours for the clay, I love pastel for the hardcourts. I think it gives a nice contrast with the bright blue/green. I’m hoping, this time, Dina’s shirt fits her. I love her but I don’t need to see her belly ever five seconds, thankyouverymuch.

Fierce Tennis, you say?

Question: What is this awesome piece of the interwebs?

Answer: I have tried and failed several times to keep blogs up. Why? Because I don’t like doing serious journalism unless there’s money showing up in my bank account — and there wasn’t. This blog will have no interest in being impartial or, you know, actually talking about the sport (ok, maybe from time to time). There are tons of other blogs (and news websites) that do this job pretty well already. Here we will discuss the shallow part: the outfits, the gossip, the outrages and who Fernando Verdasco is currently dating.
