Last bit of Beijing LOLZ

149

Somehow I feel like that picture should go to the blog’s “about” page.

My first full thought when looking at this picture was “OH LOL for a second there I thought that dude in white was Yanina Wickmayer“. And then I looked at the subtitle. It was her. Oh, Wicky, never change, okay?

And via Mind The Racket, another video of the two most unintentionally hilarious doubles players (Elena Vesnina does not count): Sam Stosur and Rennae Stubbs. Playing ping pong.

I think I could actually beat them. WIN.

Two things that made me lol today

1)

From the Google ads at the sidebar. Which, btw, if you like the blog, click on them. Not only they provide such lolz as “IS RAFA A CHRISTIAN?” but they also give me money to pay off the host. Two for one, y’all.

2)

Picture 2

Nole “rapping” for the Bryan Bros‘ “album”. And the video of such ridiculous/amazing thing:

Guess we have a new Vincent Spadea on the tour, u guise.

Rafa/Old dude = New doubles GOATs?

It’s very rare for me to follow doubles. But I can’t help but do it this time. Not only it’s Rafa‘s baby steps back to the tour but it’s also him playing with his 40-year-old coach. Seriously….lolwut?

Today, Nadal/Roig played and defeated Novak Djokovic and Dusan Vemic 7-5, 6-4. From people’s reports (and smiley!Rafa pics), he was very relaxed and in a good mood. Even tried a trick here and there. I very much approve this “no pressure” thing going on with him.

P.S. His shirt is white. And see-through. You can see his NIPPLES. *giggles like a maniac 12-year-old*

The good, the bad and the ugly

E.g. of a good campaign: Looking For A Hero?

The WTA’s campaign gets a little off-track with their recent interviews, loses its focus, even. But no one can deny it’s entertaining. They do what should have been done a while ago — they get personal with the tour. Even if the campaign’s goal seems to be mystify the players and their ~*special powers*~, we’re equally interested in their “human” side. That’s what their two latest videos, Life Without Tennis and Players’ Most Extravagant Purchases, show.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MydJkW4UuYE]

The most interesting aspect of the video is that we find out that Aravane Rezaï would like to be either an actress or astrophysics (sic) if she wasn’t a tennis player. Astrophysics. Yes, astrophysics. And Severine Bremond would like to be a singer. Only we don’t hear her sing. Coolies.

Now, this, this is my favourite one:

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUEYP41rfjM]

What have all the players bought? Cars. Fast, expensive, convertible cars. I’m amused by the players describing their cars’ technical details and such while the interviewer just goes “Fast?”. Yes, fast, dude. I would probably make a question as dumb as that one like “So, it drives, eh?”. The only girl that actually bought something, you know, girly was Vika. Hermès bag that she’s been wanting for three years. I think this means she’d been wanting a Hermès bag for three years, not that she bought a bag from seasons ago. Just thought I’d clarify that. And of course, as usual, Stosur and Stubbs provide hilarious moments.

And example of bad, very very bad campaign, you ask? L.A. Women’s Tennis ChampionshipsSave The Grunt. I even feel secondhand embarrassment.

Players bringing the lawlz

ft24

I think the WTA tour website might have realized what’s going to take them to pass TennisForum in terms of entertainment: interviews with the tour’s stars. Or in this case… players.

First, watch this video of Rennae Stubbs and Sam Stosur (shut up, I haven’t learned how to embed videos from their website yet). I’m going to do a list of things I loved:

  • Aussie accent omg. Why can’t I have one?
  • They literally know NOTHING about each other. Except their taste on wine. Gotta love a friendship built on alcohol.
  • “2006?” / “No, that was like two years ago!” Rofl, they don’t even know in which year we are in.
  • At the Olympics they were stalking… Michael Phelps? I was expecting Lauren Jackson or Stephanie Rice. That’s who I’d stalk if I was a gay Australian.

Second, onto the mandatory Danish Cutie reference on the post. Caroline Answers Your Questions: Part II — watch this if you want to develop a crush on Caro. She speaks, as she says, “a few” languages. Fluently, she speaks English, Polish and Danish. She speaks Russian “so so” but she understands everything. Norwegian and Swedish are very similar to Danish while Czech and Slovakian are very similar to Polish. She’s also been learning French for three years and Spanish for one. In case you were counting, this means Caro speaks ten (10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) languages. I know I should have proposed to her in Paris, nevermind the heartbreak. She’s like a real life version of Babel Fish!

And the other Caro video that made me squee with delight is Caroline’s Paris Video Blog. I’m obviously 12 years old since I giggled at “my partner Sorana Cirstea“. Besides that, there were other moments of sheer cuteness. She talks about how her best friend came to visit and they watched the Champions League final together. I wonder if they watched in the hotel room or if they went to some Brasserie to drink beer and swear at the TV. The latter in my head. Caro is a Liverpool fan, I think we knew that already. If we didn’t, then I had a dream she was a Fernando Torres fangirl — not completely out of the question. Cute thing is she was cheering for Barça and her friend for Manchester United. I hope she bought her friend cookies or something after the game.

THIS WAS A POINTLESS POST BUT I HAD TO DO IT, OK? BYE AND SRY FOR THE SPAMMING TODAY.

Fierce Tennis, you say?

Question: What is this awesome piece of the interwebs?

Answer: I have tried and failed several times to keep blogs up. Why? Because I don’t like doing serious journalism unless there’s money showing up in my bank account — and there wasn’t. This blog will have no interest in being impartial or, you know, actually talking about the sport (ok, maybe from time to time). There are tons of other blogs (and news websites) that do this job pretty well already. Here we will discuss the shallow part: the outfits, the gossip, the outrages and who Fernando Verdasco is currently dating.
