- Australian Open’s website in their mobile version. Very good for checking scores when you’re in the movies or simply away from the computer.
- Free AO livestreams: ATDHE.net, FromSport, LiveScoreHunter.
And “news”:
- Andy Roddick’s wife Brookly Decker in a suit for Elle Magazine. Oh, oh-kay.
- Rafa Nadal om nom nom. I have a feeling he’ll be stripping more to tone down the ridiculousness of his outfit.
- Doesn’t Aga Radwanska clean up nicely? Gracing the cover of magazines and rocking some great hair.
- Ana’s blogging from Melbourne.
- The Guardian’s “Australian Open Day 1 in Pictures“.
28-year-old? Amazing how fast time goes by when you’re having fun.
EXCITED??????????????????? (the capslock and multiple question marks say ‘yes’)

The New York Times did a summary of the decade by pictures. It’s amazing, hilarious and oh so true to life. Why is this relevant to tennis? Check out 2008’s couple.
Thanks to reader @discotraxxx for the tip!
Let’s talk tennis-pool

I’m sure, by now, everyone’s already bored of eating so much turkey, so let’s have a bit of old-fashioned computer/tennis fun, shall we?
Tennis-Pool, for those that don’t know, is a fantasy tennis game. You pick 10 players for the ATP and 10 for the WTA. You’ll get points for how far they go in the tournaments. Also, each week you can trade 3 players on each tour. For the full rules, you should check out the website.
Am I getting paid for posting this here? No, not at all but if you work for tennis-pool and would like to send me a Christmas bonus, feel free to e-mail me. Why am I posting this here then? It’s fun. I’ve been playing tennis-pool for three years or so and I’ve never manage to complete a full season. I always end up being mad at the stupid game or forgetting to make my trades. Either way, I fail. But, honestly, when you get it right, it’s awesome. I was number one during Wimbledon in the WTA and it managed to give me quite a few opportunities to gloat at my fellow tennis geeks. LOOK AT ME, I’M A GRASS XXXXPEEERRRRT — haha, not.
My username this year will be 2 Sexy 4 My Headband and I’ll be a member of the Fierce Tennis club. I recommend you all to join the club and comment here in the future telling me how you’re the one that should be the tennis blogger because my results obviously say I know nothing about tennis. It will be EPIC, you guys.
Below is my initial team just so you guys can tell how SRS I’m am regarding this. It will probably change once the draws for the first week tourneys come out though.
ATP
WTA
ELENA VESNINA WILL WIN AUCKLAND. MARK MY WORDS! Ahem.
Feel free to talk me out of getting Chaky or something. I’m sure all I need is a little push.
Happy holidays!

I realize this is a tennis blog. But it’s also a blog that belongs to me, therefore, I’ll post whatever I want. Suck it up, readers. (Just kidding, I ♥ u guise.)
As the days go by, I find myself getting more and more into the TV show Criminal Minds. It’s very entertaining stuff. And now, I’m relating the name “JJ” to that cute blonde on the left below. If I read or write “JJ”, I immediately go “HEE JJ! *squees*”. And this might be an issue. Because JJ is also how I call the tennis player on the right.
So I’m here thinking to myself. Because sometimes I do that… you know, think. And I believe I need another nickname for the Serb. I’m going to do a poll to see what you guys think, but honestly, I’m not feeling any of these names bellow. I’ll be taking suggestions, please comment if you have any. Thanks!
You guys, this is going to be fun

Every week, I get excited for music website Popjustice to post their X Factor playsheets. And I thought, I wish we had something equally cracktastic on tennis. Our sport doesn’t have enough absurd/ironic stuff. Making fun of Sharapova’s sexuality, Nando’s girlfriends or Federer’s chest hair simply isn’t enough. With the Year-End Championships in Doha starting in three days, I thought I’d do something for the tournament. Fierce Tennis haz done a Doha playsheet.
(reader I♥Kiri didn’t seem to have a red pen)
This is how the game works:
- Download the playsheet here (right-click save).
- You can choose to either print it (recommended) or do it on Photoshop/MS Paint/somewhere else (like done by reader Craig).
- The draw isn’t out yet, so here is what you can do so far: answer the poll, do the hotness/chance of winning part on the chart. Besides that, add glitter, paste pictures, do whatever you want!
- Please tweet your stylesheets to @fiercetennnis before/during/after the tournament. I’ll be posting the best ones here! At the end of the tournament, I’ll pick a winner. What will the winner get? Unconditional Fierce Tennis love.

Answer: I have tried and failed several times to keep blogs up. Why? Because I don’t like doing serious journalism unless there’s money showing up in my bank account — and there wasn’t. This blog will have no interest in being impartial or, you know, actually talking about the sport (ok, maybe from time to time). There are tons of other blogs (and news websites) that do this job pretty well already. Here we will discuss the shallow part: the outfits, the gossip, the outrages and who Fernando Verdasco is currently dating.
