Vanity Fair magazine did a shoot with 31 players who are in the U.S. Open. There’s a quite a nice variety of players: number one seed Caroline Wozniacki, qualifier cutie Ryan Harrison, wheelchair-player Esther Vergeer, twitter favourite Andrea Petkovic, the boring as ever Bryan Brothers, amongst others. I bought this stuffed kangaroo in London (that huge Hamleys in Oxford Street) when I was hardly 15. I’ve always loved stuffed animals, I had over 50, but when I was about 13, they all had to be given away because I’m overly allergic to, well, anything. Still, I bought this one. And it’s still kept in a high bookshelf in my room.

You see, I’m the kind of (crazy) person that names all of her favourite things. I wasn’t going to miss the opportunity to name a cute (fake) animal. Let me just say, naming the stuffed kangaroo was a very easy task. I named the mother and its daughter after my two favourite Australian players at the time: Alicia and Sam.

Moral of the story: Sometimes this sport makes me happy. Even if it’s rare. And even if it takes a while.

ALL THESE LADIES WON. AND IT WAS EPIC.

And, damn, you guys, the matches were all hard (Sam‘s not so much, but for a moment there, when she lost the 1st, I was scared) — all three-setters.

Lena played some spectacular shit tennis and had to come down from a set down and then from a break drown on the 3rd set to defeat CanWoz. When Kiri started serving for the match, we got suicidal but then she ended up snagging the 3rd set 6-4. And Wicky, well, they didn’t have a stream for Wicky but I imagine if it took her 32 games to defeat mommy!Bammer, then it mustn’t have been pretty. Still, a win is a win.

But that wasn’t all. We had BONUS WINNERS. Caro pushed push baby Dulgheru and Rrrrrrrafa, well, Rafa was Rafa. We still have Russian BBs Pavs and Pivs (who came from qualies to upset Australian Open semifinalist Zheng) alive in the third round. Let’s enjoy this little piece of sunshine and happiness upon us — goodness knows it will be squashed by JJ or the Williams soon.

Last week’s ladies champions: Sam Stosur and Yanina Wickmayer. Congrats, girls. Wicky, Fierce Tennis‘ official Sexy Bitch (when Vika isn’t playing), decided to be a good kid and replied to one of my questions.

Unfortunately, it was the most boring one. She ignored the question whether she was going to a nightclub to dance to Akon‘s “Sexy Bitch” if she won the title. :( :( :( I’ll take the silence as a “yes”.

This week’s we have my personal favourite WTA tournament Kremlin Cup on. Watch as I complain daily about how they killed my tourney  (*clings*) by moving to the week before the YEC. It’s going to be fun times.

My first full thought when looking at this picture was “OH LOL for a second there I thought that dude in white was Yanina Wickmayer“. And then I looked at the subtitle. It was her. Oh, Wicky, never change, okay?

And via Mind The Racket, another video of the two most unintentionally hilarious doubles players (Elena Vesnina does not count): Sam Stosur and Rennae Stubbs. Playing ping pong.

I think I could actually beat them. WIN.

Such as, when Tennis Forum comes up with cracktastic threads like Lesbians Are The Biggest Chokers On Tour. LOL wut. Examples? Momo, Kuz, Sharapova. Since we’re at it, didn’t Sam lose a match against Serena this year in Australia having match points? Or was it last year? Whatever, it happened. And does this means maybe Kiri is a lesbian? Or Lena? I don’t think that theory makes sense.

And onto more stuff that makes me “LOLWUT”, why oh why is Rafa playing doubles in Montréal with his 40-year-old coach? Am I the only one that finds that disrespectful to the tournament and to the other players? I love the boy to death but this might be taking the whole “tournament as practice” a little too far. There were probably other players, maybe even doubles specialists, that wanted in. But again, the organizers probably don’t care. They just want to sell tickets… even if it’s tickets for a fancy practice session.
