HELLO THUR
July 13th, 2009 • 3 comments caro the danish cutie, kiri is 2 hot 4 u, tennis players are fashionists too
I immediately take every single thing back I said about Caro not being girly enough to pull off Stella McCartney or whatnot. LOOK AT THAT FIERCE© MOTHERFUCKER. First, I have to comment on the picture. The “sex hair” look? I’m a huge fan of it. And doesn’t Caro look a bit like Gossip Girl‘s Blake Lively there? No? Just me? Okay! Moving on.
I’m a sucker for frilly tennis skirts. Even though that skirt is a bit like much of what we’ve seen from Stella’s tennis collection so far, I like it. I like the two layers and I look forward to see how it looks and moves on court. My guess? Beautifully. I think it’s safe to say beige plus under saturated shades of pink and purple is the definition of her line this season (and a bit of white for Wimbledon — duh).
Also, is that a white polo I spy? Please let it be one, Tennis Fashion Gods. Vintage + Modern is the best mix in fashion.
And, to people worried about how Kiri will look now she was replaced by Caro — be seriously worried. From adidas, via Tennis Served Fresh:
“Maria Kirilenko continues to be an excellent tennis ambassador for the adidas brand and remains part of the adidas tennis family. From the U.S Open onwards Maria will move out of the range and start wearing the adidas Competition tennis products.”
The Competition tennis products? This means they won’t even let her use the Adilibria collection? Gee, if Kiri was a man, I’d say she was just kicked in the balls.
One day you're wearing Burberry….

The other it looks like you belong to the circus.
Oh Ana, we weep for you.
Poor Man's Stella

What a weird feeling of familiarity. Is this like a déjà vu? Why am I going through this?

O wait.

Oh yeaaaaaaahhhhhhh. Adidas by Stella McCartney, Australian hardcourt season 2006. Good times.
Now, see, if they weren’t BOTH by Adidas, I’d say that was a blatant rip-off. It’s a bit like in real fashion. They have some kind of purse at Chanel, and a few seasons later, GAP is manufacturing a cheap, less awesome version. Sorana‘s dress has gorgeous colours and I like the way the top fits. But Kiri‘s? It’s so pretty I wouldn’t even want to wear to play tennis in it, I’d go clubbing with it or something.
But something Banana keeps on rocking:

Matching her nail polish colour to tiny details. It’s lovely.

Rafa looking gorgeous in Mallorca
July 7th, 2009 • 2 comments holy rafa, roger failderer, tennis players are fashionists too
According to ATP Mens Tennis Blog, Rafa was spotted in an yatch close to his home in Palma de Mallorca. He’s even — wait for it — SMILING. Gasp!

And eating, of course. As always.
Now, let’s talk about Rafa’s outfit. I’m incredibly happy how our boy’s fashion style has evolved. A t-shirt that fits, white sneakers (who doesn’t love white sneakers?) and red shorts to work on the blue + white + red combo. Yes, our boy is all grown up. Now, as much as I love that t-shirt (even if it might be a bit of too House of Holland for me), Rafa wearing it is a big red NAY. Rafa wearing a shirt that has his name all big on the middle of it, it’s the equivalent of Federer and his stupid mongram. So… no, Rafa… just… no.
Dina is cute (no, seriously, that's what this post is about)

I think if we ignore the outcome of her semifinal, we can watch her presser and squee about how cute Dina looks. I believe it’s a given she looks better off-court: smiley, non-sweaty, etc. And I quite like her hair up like that, she looks pretty.
Still on the subject of cute (but oh so awkward) Russian girls:
Pavs and Bepa Z on Life magazine. O wut. You might want to check out the link if you’re interested in a very random group of tennis players in ridiculous poses. I know I was.
No, *I* am the biggest diva

Vika-Serena: frankly, the match I was the most excited about today. Even though I wanted badly for Vika to win, my hopes were next to none (srsly, she dropped a set to Petrova). I was all about the entertainment and the drama only the WTA can provide.

Pictures of Vika being her own dramatic self. I love it. I was expecting more tantrums and all. Some loud swearing, bitching at the line judges, maybe even a racquet break. I was slightly disappointed she wasn’t as bratty as possible. In her post-match interview, she said Serena really showed her unbeatable side today — which I don’t think it’s that true. Sure, Serena was serving very well and pounding on the ball but Vika showed her own weakness. Double faults at bad moments and being broken back at 3-2 after just getting the lead. Well, kid is 19, I think she will improve. I’ll just say that two Slam QFs in a row is amazing.
And I realize I make fun of her brattiness and all but I don’t think anyone can say she is a sore loser. Right after losing 2 and 3, there she was — smiling and chatting with Serena. Good job, girl. *thumbs up*

I don’t remember if I have or haven’t talked about Serena’s white overcoat here until now? I LOVE IT. It looks straight out of an Antonioni movie. V. pretty, ReRe. I approve. And she has been pretty funny in the pressers’ this year?
I mean, I use some of my trophies for makeup brushes, so, you know, maybe I’ll just take a step back and be like, Hmm. Take all the makeup brushes out and really appreciate every title and every trophy.
Oh, Serena, I hope you’re not getting those holy things rusty or something, gurl.
Middle sunday, yo

Well, I actually have nothing to report but I thought I was doing so well posting here everyday! Didn’t want to ruin that, did I? So how about I post on… nothing? Yeah? Exciting? Cool.
Via adeegee’s Wimbly reports, a few cute pictures of the girls:

Caro Wozniacki rocking out with her wayfarers.
Is she looking for her mojo? Idek but LOL either way, JJ.

Vika and her headband of sex. I wonder if she takes that thing off for showering and stuff.

Caro and
wear matching nail polish. ‘Nough said.

“Zomg Caro, did you see how adorable I just was?”

Watchya listenin’ to, Kuz? Lil’ Wayne?

Vika is hot, the sky is blue
June 25th, 2009 • 3 comments tennis players are fashionists too, vika azarenka
My lovely friend Nikkie just sent me this Vika picture from an article from The Sun.
Legs. And all. Mainly just legs. And legs. And shoes, of course. Lovely shoes. I think I’ve seen those shoes before this week. And legs. Yeah. I might do some research from where I’ve seen those shoes because I hate not recognizing articles of clothing but yeah. Shoes. And legs. Yeah.
And some parts of the interview:
“Do I have any male fans?” asked the former world junior number one. “I haven’t noticed. Hopefully after this shoot I will see a difference.”
I seriously don’t believe she said that. And it’s The Sun, so it’s perfectly okay for me to doubt them. I just want to work for them someday so I can make up shit like that.
What music do you listen to before you go out on court?
I used to listen to hip-hop, but now I am more into club music. I don’t have a particular song, but it will always be something by a DJ and it will always be upbeat.
Hip hop? “Club music”? Something by a DJ? Bb, have you ever even been to a club? Oh Vika, Vika, aren’t you lucking you’re hot? And that you wear cute headbands, of course.
Gise knows it best
June 24th, 2009 • gise dulko, maria shutupova, tennis players are fashionists too
Bits from Gise‘s post-match interview after defeating Sharapova.
Q. Maria had a distinctive new jacket, military style jacket. What do you think of that? What do you think of Maria’s fashion generally?
GISELA DULKO: I think it’s very pretty.
Agreed. I want one. Much better than last year’s GHEY AWARDS WINNER, “the tuxedo”.
Q. Maria has a lot of fans, not just because she’s a great tennis player, but because she’s very attractive and she does a lot of modeling. A few people have noticed you’re not so bad looking yourself. How do you feel about being a pin up?
GISELA DULKO: Thank you.
Why yes, Gise, you’re not so terrible to look at. Wouldn’t even kick you off my bed myself. Are you flattered?
Q. Would that be welcome attention, queen of SW19? Would that be welcome, that attention? Our publication is making you the new pin up of Wimbledon. Would that be a welcome attention for you?
GISELA DULKO: Yeah, it’s always nice. I always said, I’m not only a tennis player, I’m a woman. I didn’t understand the question very well. Sorry, my English is not very good.
LOL. I read that with Britney’s “I’m Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman” playing in my head. Yes, my brain works in mysterious ways. And what is with those illiterate interviewers? How many time can one say “welcome” and “attention” in less than 30 seconds? Fuckin’ hell.
Q. Do you have a boyfriend?
GISELA DULKO: We talking about tennis here. Not personal, no. I’m not gonna talk about that.*
*TRANSLATION: I forgot who I’m dating at the moment. Gonzalez? Robredo? Calleri? Verdasco? Idk, It’s some dude.

Answer: I have tried and failed several times to keep blogs up. Why? Because I don’t like doing serious journalism unless there’s money showing up in my bank account — and there wasn’t. This blog will have no interest in being impartial or, you know, actually talking about the sport (ok, maybe from time to time). There are tons of other blogs (and news websites) that do this job pretty well already. Here we will discuss the shallow part: the outfits, the gossip, the outrages and who Fernando Verdasco is currently dating.
